OVERVIEW

Carousel Design Concept

This project is a visual campaign created for Amnesty International’s Protect the Protest initiative. It includes a Call-To-Action Instagram Carousel and a Poster designed to raise awareness about restrictive protest laws and encourage public engagement.

Social Context

Human rights include the right to peacefully assemble. History has shown the profound social impact of protests.

Target Audience

Designed to inform and mobilize young audiences (18-35), who are highly active on social media.

Design Approach

  • Simple language: Consumable information

  • Headline and infographic: Trigger curiosity

  • Connected visual elements: Encourage swiping

OVERVIEW

Poster Design Concept

The poster presents a timeline of global protests, highlighting key historical events and projecting into the future.

Concept

The timeline creates a cohesive narrative, linking past and speculative events with bold-highlighted key dates.

Story-telling

The final entry, “Same Story, Different Realities” emphasizes the ongoing struggle for free speech.

Design Approach

It illustrates how protests have evolved, from traditional demonstrations to high-tech activism, and explores the growing tension between government control and the right to dissent.

Reflecting back

This project deepened my understanding of balancing visual storytelling and written content. While my design successfully captured attention, feedback highlighted the importance of clarity and conciseness in messaging, especially for serious topics like protest rights.

Key Takeaways

Strong visuals enhance a message but cannot replace well-structured content.

Writing plays a crucial role in shaping the effectiveness of activism campaigns.
